Cape Hatteras, NC:
high tide around 9 this morning. next low around 3 this afternoon. forecast is for northeast wind at 15 to 20 mph. after surfing fun waves in frisco yesterday morning and hoping for more of the same.....NOT. the surf has dropped. south side is knee to thigh high with sideshore winds. east facing beaches are just shapeless chop and i'm guessing on the size. pics are from the third jetty as they are holding the eastern surfing championships at the first jetty.

Cape Hatteras, NC:
the surf came up last night. the lighthouse looks to be head high or a bit bigger at times and messy with current. frisco pier looks about shoulder high and mostly closed out but some end sections here and there. cleaner than the lighthouse. even though the wind is northeast this morning at least 15 mph the forecast is for northeast at 5 to 10, so it should die out some as the day goes on. super high tide this morning around 7:30. lower tide should improve the southside. first three picture are the lighthouse, second three are frisco.

Cape Hatteras, NC:
north wind this morning around 10 to 15 and forecast to increase to 15 to 20 out of the northeast this afternoon. shape doesn't look too good. frisco might be the ticket at a lower tide but it will probably be pretty small. next low tide around 12:30 this afternoon.

Cape Hatteras, NC:
looks okay out there today. a little dribbly but i'll venture a guess it might improve some after the tide starts coming back in. light winds forecast today 5 to 10 mph from the north. at least the sun is shining.

Cape Hatteras, NC:
low tide around 8:15 this morning. the surf needs more water as this last storm has made some shallow sandbars. the set waves are pretty long but closing down. if the wind doesn't mess it up there should be some improvement as the tide comes in. high tide around 3 this afternoon. wind forecast is for north at 15 mph.

Cape Hatteras, NC:
a bit dredgy and closed out this morning with the approaching low tide around 8 AM. lots of little rips running through it. forecast is for southwest wind at 10 mph. i'm going to venture a guess that the surf will improve as the day goes on and the tide fills in.
