As you can tell, it is extremely foggy this AM. Sorry for the poor quality of pictures but that’s what it looks like. Wave height is a little smaller then yesterday: kneecap-thigh to waist. Hardly any wind (which is why it is so foggy) that means glassy condition. Air temps are in the mid 40 degree range with no AM sun at this posting: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Go Surfing! I just took these pictures in front of my home break. Wave height is chest high and clean. We have an incoming tide and air temp is 50 degrees and H20 is 44 degrees. Due to a low wind speed, there is hardly any wind chill. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Despite the North wind you could go surfing. Wave height is about waist high on an incoming tide. Wind speed is 15 mph. Air temp feels like 40 degrees when you calculate wind chill. Recommendation: wait for the tide to drop and see if some of the Corolla sand bars start breaking: NOTE: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Small knee cap high surf but very clean. Corolla has a very light wind and an outgoing tide. The sun is out, so wind chill is very minimal. You might wait a till about 12:30/1:00 so that the tide goes out: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

The good news is that the wind has backed off despite the fact that wind direction is out of the East-northeast. Wave height is around thigh to waist with an outgoing tide. Corolla has an air and water temp at 44-45 degrees Fahrenheit. You will definitely need a 4/3mm, boots, gloves and a hood. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Sunday’s surf is still defined by an on-shore wind. Wave height is at least waist high but surface conditions are choppy. Air temps are in the mid 40’s backed by a 17 mph wind. Win chill feels like a high 30 degrees. The result is choppy surf with a wind chill: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

The surf was looking decent until Corolla (and the OBX) saw a switched in wind direction yesteray around 1:00 pm. Currnet wind direction is on-shore NE. Ocean conditions are currently rough and wave height is waist to chest at high tide. Ocean and air temps are macthing each other at about 48 degrees Fahrenheit. Yes, the pictures I just took at my home break are telling the story. We currently have a very mild air temp, waist to stomach high surf and a light off-shore wind ( at this posting). Corolla is enjoying a reprieve from winter. Air temps are in the mid-50’s with a light wind out of the SWS. The surf small, only knee cap high and we currently have an outgoing tide. Water temp is 47 degrees Fahrenheit but with a very mild air temp, wind chill should not be an issue: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Corolla is currently experiencing a fall day in January. Air temps are in the 50’s, wind is out of the SSW and wave height is thigh high. The tide is flipping at this posting. This is a nice break from the 20 degree weather we had lest weekend. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Cold but clean: probably the best way to describe today’s surf conditions. Wave height is thigh high and longboard-able. Air temp, due to a light wind, will only feel like the mid 20’s as opposed to last weekend’s wind chill that was in the low single digits. Winter arrived yesterday! Corolla only got 2” of snow but the air temp dropped down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill on the beach is close to 0 degrees due to a 26 mph wind. Water temp took a 10 degree drop in less then 3 days: H20 is 42 degrees. Wave height is chest high but the Northeast wind has chopped the surface up. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

The forecasted winter storm that is moving across the country has finally hit Corolla. Air temp is 30 degrees Fahrenheit but w/a 30 mph wind, it feels like low single digits. I drove out of the beach & took these pics at the horse fence. Choppy cold ocean makes me want to buy some tickets to Latin America!!! GARY, COROLLA, SURF SHOP

Corolla is getting ready for our 1st winter storm. The wind is out of the ENE. Air temp is 40 degrees but with a 15 mph, wind chill fells like 30 degrees. I took these pictures looking north from Ocean Hills towards the horse fence. Surface conditions are choppy and wave height is thigh to waist with broken sections. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Corolla has had some decent surf over the last three days but the wind has switched & is blowing out of the ENE. This might be a prelude to the winter weather that’s on the way for the OBX. Wave height is only ankle-slapper to knee cap with semi-choppy conditions. Although air temp is around 40 degrees, H20 is still 51 degrees Fahrenheit. NOTE: IF WE GET A WINTER STORM THIS WEEKEND, COROLLA SURF SHOP WILL PROBABLY BE CLOSED. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
