Wow, it’s cold! The Siberian front that has the upper Northeast in a “freeze” has finally hit Corolla. Air temps went down into the 20’s. The wind & swell are out of the ENE. It’s all about the North wind and the “Siberian” cold front dropping down from Canada. Corolla’s air temp is still in the high 30’s, low 4ish. But the wind is chopping up the ocean and leaving us with a swell that is coming out of the ENE and a wind chill in the low 30’s. I just took these pictures just north of the horse fence. The wind is on-shore, blowing at 13 mph. You can tell that wave height is only about 1’ (knee cap) high. That’s leaving us with semi-choppy conditions but the wind chill is not that bad. Feels like 45 degrees Fahrenheit: NOTE: WE ARE HAVING AN OPEN HOUSE PARTY FROM 4-7 ON FRIDAY 12/16. Today's surf is probably the best I've seen in about a week. The wind is out of the South Southwest at 17 mph. Wave height his kneecap to fly high. Low tide we'll be at 11:53 AM. Corolla currently has mild air camps: 60°F. However we have an incoming storm from the south southwest. How this affects the surf remains to be seen: NOTE: WE ARE HAVING A SHOP PARTY THIS FRIDAY!!! Sunday is an unimpressive surf today. The wind is out of the east. Wind speed is about 15 mph. Wave height is only knee-cap at best. Air temp is 49°F. Air temps finally hit the freezing mark last night. The wind continues to blow out of the north which means wind chill on the beach is low 30’s. I took these pictures just north of the horse fence. Not much has really changes over the last week. We continue to have an on-shore wind that has pushed wave size up to about chest high to almost head high. As expected, the on-shore win has chopped up surface conditions. Water and air temps remain in the 50 degree Fahrenheit range. The wind is coming out of the ENE. Not much has changed from yesterday. Wave height is waist high plus choppy surface conditions. Air & H2O temps are matching each other at 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill is in the mid 40’s range. Classic late fall conditions. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

They wind is still out of the North but the speed has dropped off a little since yesterday. Wave height is waist plus and choppy. Corolla currently has a 50 degree Fahrenheit air temp. The wind speed means that current wind chill is in the low 40’s. You will at least need a 4/3 with boots and gloves. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

The only difference from yesterday to today is that the air temp has dropped. We still have a cooler wind blowing out of the North. Wave height is still in the thigh to waist high range. But we have a side-shore current running north to south. Air temp is 51 degrees. With a wind blowing at 17 mph, that means we have a wind chill of in the low 40’s. Cooler temps have moved back into the region. Current air temp is in the low 50’s despite a sunny day. The wind is out of the NNW, wind speed is around 17 mph. This is chopped up surface conditions due to ENE swell direction. Wave height hasn’t changed for the last three days: NOTE: WE ARE WELLL STOCKED UP WINTER WETSUITS: EXCEL AND RIPCURL. 12/1 feels like 5/1! We currently have an air temp of 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Wave height is thigh to waist but sections really won’t starting breaking until the tide goes out. We have clear skies, spring like conditions and an off-shore wind. If you go out, you should only need a 3.2 mm full. NOTE: WE WILL BE OPEN THIS FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY! GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
