I took these pictures right in front of my home break. The tide needs to drop before the outside break starts working. (Low is at 2:00PM) Wave height is thigh to almost waist. Corolla currently has unseasonable warm weather: air temp is is 67 degrees Fahrenheit. It is the warm weather riding the WSW wind. The issue is the wind. Current speed is 17 to 20 mph. This is just too much speed and is chopping up the ocean surface conditions. But the southern wind is leaving Corolla with air temps in the 60’s. Monday’s surf is probably the best conditions I have seen in about a week. Corolla has a light SSW wind. Wind speed is only 6 to 9 mph at this posting. Sunday’s surf is the same as yesterday’s surf. The wind is out of the North to northeast. Wave height is thigh to waist with choppy surface conditions. What a change from yesterday! The wind has turned has switched and is now out of the ENE blowing at 20 to 23 mph w/gusts. Corolla currently has rough seas and side shore swell around waist high. Thanksgiving Friday’s surf is small, ankle slapper to knee cap. Corolla has a light wind out of the ESE. But you could go long boarding if you wanted to work off yesterday’s big meal. Air temp’s are heading into the low 60’s. You might be able to get away w/a just a 3/2mm. Surf or Thanksgiving Thursday! Corolla is currently experiencing scattered rain showers. This is giving us glassy conditions but very small surf. Wave height is only ankle slapper to knee cap. The wind has backed off and we have an incoming tide. Wave height is only ankle slapper to knee cap high but it is entry level safe. You will need a board with some float and at least a 3/2mm. I just drove on the beach from Corolla Village Road to Albacore. Corolla has an incoming tide at this posting. The wind is out of the WNW blowing at 9 to 13 mph. The cold front that started yesterday continues. The combination of 48 degrees (daytime temp) and a 17 mph wind is leaving us with a wind chill in the low 40 degree Fahrenheit range. The Northeast wind has flatten the surf. Wave height is ankle slapper plus. Clear winter day, just no surf. NOTE: WE GOT PLENTY OF CSS BEANIES, HOODED SWEATS, FRONT ZIP AND PULL OVERS. Saturday was one of the better fall days. Today is a different story. A cold front moved in from the upper mid-west, wind increased, turned North to Northeast and left Corolla with thigh high choppy sections. Air temp dropped down to 40 degrees last night. Surprise! The best surf I have seen since Nicole! Wave height is at least 2’ overhead. I took these pictures right at high tide. The paddle out will take a little effort but worth it. SO SURFING! NOTE: COROLLA SURF SHOP WILL BE OPEN EVERDAY INCLUDING THANKSGIVING DAY!!!

Today, the wind is out of the NNW which is an improvement over yesterday. I took the pictures at my home break an hour after high tide. Wave height is waist plus with semi-glassy conditions. Corolla has a beautiful Carolina sky (not a cloud to be seen) with air temps moving into the low 60’s. All that it takes is a switch in wind direction. Currently the swell and the wind are out of the ENE. This means the section are breaking at 45 degrees angle to the beach with the wind pushing the back of the sections over. Wave height is about waist high. What a fall day! High tide just ended at 8:12 AM, so we have an outgoing tide until 2:58 PM. The super moon has pulled the tide so that it almost came up to the dune line. Even at high tide, its looking surfable in Corolla. Wave height is waist plus with a light off-shore wind that is holding up the sections: get your longboard out. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
