Super Moon Tuesday! What a difference in conditions from yesterday’s surf. The effect a ’Super Moon’ has on the tide level is obvious. The improvement in conditions can be contributed to a switch in wind direction. The WNW cleaned up the ground swell sections. Wave height is stomach to chest with an outgoing tide. Recommendation: Check out your favorite break this AM. Low tide might be too shallow. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Today’s ocean isn’t offering any surf. The wind is out of the East with foggy overcast skies. Wave height is a bit bigger then ankle slapper. Water temp is 59 degrees Fahrenheit. We currently have an outgoing tide. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

I just took these pictures just before low tide. Wave height is only about knee cap high. The wind is side-shore/off-shore NNW. Once the tide flips at 12 noon, wave height should be picked up in size. Air temp should climb into the 60’s Fahrenheit. The wind! I just took these pictures on the north beaches. The wind is blowing out of the ENE at about at 15 to 19 mph. Surface conditions are very bumpy and there is a side shore running north to south. Wave height is around waist high. CSS recommendation: put it on hold today, it’s way to rough and disorganized. What a change a day can make! The wind switched from ENE to WNW. This cleaned surface conditions and left Corolla with a very “longboardable” surf. It is all about the a ENE wind. The off-shore wind has chopped up the surface. The open sections we had yesterday have been replaced by trashed out chop this AM. Today could be a decent surf day. The wind is off-shore, there is a slight overcast that is burning off and wave height is about waist to almost chest high. Corolla currently has an incoming tide, so this is helping to add about a foot to the faces. Water temp also bumped up a couple of degrees so we have a decent fall surf day. Feels like we are definitely heading into fall. Corolla continues to have swell out of the ENE. The wind has clocked around to from NE to WNW but Corolla still has some surface chop. Wave height is about a 1’ overhead. We currently have an incoming tide (@ this 10:30 posting). High tide is at 1:18 PM. H2O temp is hanging in there at 61 degrees Fahrenheit but if we get a couple of cooler days, it will drop into the high 50’s. A fall day in Corolla w/a ENE wind trashing the surf. Wave height is over head with sections breaking on the outside but the size is lost on too strong of a wind out of the ENE. Wind speed is almost hitting 30 mph mark. The has cool air temp drop into the mid 50’s. I think the paddle out would be a challenge. You can feel the change in seasons. A beautiful fall day and we have some surf. The wind is currently off-shore and holding up the sections. High tide is at 11:24 AM. Wave height is thigh-waist and tide dependent. You will probably need a 3/2mm full suit and a longboard. NOTE: REMEMBER, VOTE!

Today’s surf is a slight improvement over yesterday. The wind speed has dropped. Current wind speed is 16 to 19 mph. Wave height is around waist to stomach but surface conditions are still choppy. The combination of wind speed and cooler air temps are leaving us with a wind chill of 45 degrees. NOTE: PLEASE VOTE!!!!

I’m glad I went surfing yesterday! I found a found longboard wave in Ocean Sands. But today is a different story. The wind has switched from Thursday’s off-shore too today’s on-shore out of the ENE. The ocean is out of control, very choppy and a side-shore current. Wave height is around waist to chest but the sections are trashed. Summary: Corolla went from summer to fall conditions in less then a day: VOTE!

The mistake I made yesterday was to wait too late into the day to go surfing. The wind picked up out of the south and Corolla lost it’s glassy conditions by 2 PM. I just took these pics in front of my home break. Wave height is about thigh to waist but will start breaking better once the tide goes out. Corolla currently has summer like weather with the air temps forecasted to reach the high 70’s: NOTE: WE ARE SELLING OFF OUR RENTAL EQUIPMENT INCLUDING OUR BIKES AND STAND-UP PADDLE BOARDS. I don’t believe that today is November 2nd. It looks like June. At this posting, Corolla has alight off-shore wind blowing at 9 to 10 mph out of the west. We are coming out of high tide at this posting so I would recommend waiting a couple of hours before getting your longboard. But we have a very warm air temp,(currently 64 degrees but rising) and a H2O of 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Wave height should be around thigh to waist once the tide drops & the sandbars start working. Today’s conditions are a huge improvement over Sunday’s blown out surf.
