Just stumbled upon this part of the forum and this thread. Yes I can confirm that this is indeed my youngest offspring on his first wave of 2019. He paddled out in trunks on New Years day just before the OC NJ Polar Bear Plunge. Air about 50 and water about 42 and windy as you can see. It took him a good 10 minutes to get a wave due to the longboarders and SUPers that were in the water. Have to admit I was getting more and more nervous the longer he was out there. When he got to his feet it was obvious his legs weren't working right but he managed a well ridden 3 turn ride to the beach.
I'm usually the guy behind the camera and don't have many decent shots of myself and what I do have are scattered among hundreds of thousands of pictures on my computers so good luck for me trying to find something worth posting. What is memorable about this picture is that it was a day where the water was near freezing and the wind chill was near zero.
Yes that is one of my own boards. I haven't ridden a shortboard made by anybody other than myself in about 10 years.....and only a few since I started making my own boards in 1989. For a little while in the late 90s I was riding boards from John Carper but other than that all my own boards since the end of the 80s.
