1/18/09 – A little bit of texture with a westerly wind on top of a small wave out there. Knee-high would be a generous call. Maybe a little surf over the next few days per the forecasts and the water temp is no joke – now at 46. Have a great day - pics from Bogue Inlet Pier.

Ya today we are suffering from the 3 2's. 2 west, 2 big. 2 little water= walls of voodoo.

Ocean Beach, CA:

Welcome to Ocean Beach, San Diego - Overnight saw the buoys go higher and higher and this morning waves are now in the stomach-shoulder range and building. Offshore flow has things glassy and warm. Both sides of the pier are cranking out long clean lines. A couple kids have spotted a nice left and are sitting on the inside and shooting the pier. A chunky left point-break style wave is working on the outside. West swell is forecasted to hold for awhile; it looks like a good weekend to spend in the water. Air temp: 65F. Water temp: 60F. Crowds.

Emerald Isle, NC:

1/17/09 – Flatski, flatzilla, flatenberg, flatzkrieg, flatenwitz, flatenstein… Not even 1 foot high really and ice cold out there – surprised the camera worked. Looking ahead….the forecasts have some windswell developing in the early part of the week that cleans up with a front that helps transition things into some small groundswell for a few days.
